Enquirying on forms and their status - in particular around approval

At a glance
The community member asked how to track the status of an approval in Power Automate, especially when there are multiple approval steps. The response explains that when using Power Automate for approvals, the status is no longer tracked in Team Forms. To manage the approval status, the community member could use the Microsoft Approvals Teams app. Alternatively, the community member could build a multi-step form in Team Forms, with each approval step as a section, to track the status directly in Team Forms.

If a form is approved using Power Automate, how is possible to tell the status of an approval - in particular if the workflow has multiple approval steps?

Hi Josh,

When using Microsoft Power Automate to handle approvals, the status of that approval will no longer be tracked inside of Team Forms (e.g. in Docusign or the Mircosoft Approvals app). Unfortunately, there is no easy way to sync that approval status back to Team Forms when taking this approach, so you would need to tack/manage it in the respective app. For example, you could use the Microsoft approvals Teams app to manage the status of approvals.

If you would prefer to keep Team Forms as your source of truth, then I recommend instead building your form as a multi-step form with each approval step being section in the one form. This will allow you to track the status of that approval directly in Team Forms using the submissions screen or responses tab.
